If you’re looking for a little culinary thrill this weekend, local food writer, Iris McCarthy, aka The Palate Princess, will be previewing and signing her new book, Food Lovers’ Guide to Philadelphia, tomorrow at the Walnut Street Barnes & Noble. Details here. Along with everything you need to know about where to dine, drink, shop and learn, the book includes recipes from some of the city and suburbs’ most revered chefs. Happily, that includes two TWEPR kitchen wizards, Keith Taylor (Zachary’s BBQ) and Moon Krapugthong (Chabaa Thai, Yanako).

And, since yesterday, 9/13, was International Chocolate Day, we have to give a shout out to Éclat Chocolate’s “World’s Greatest Caramels, which* the Enchimama (aka Dawn) has been deprived of for way too long. For a DIY chocolate fix, if you’re into baking, and have the time, here is the ultimate* recipe for a chocolate angel food cake. Though we snitched this from the web, the original resource, The Cake Bible, sits on Dawn’s bookshelf and has been her bake-to-impress staple for years. It comes out just the way the images show, and tastes incredible. We’ll have to dig up Rose Levy Berenbaum’s raspberry sauce and get that to you. SO worth the effort.
