on the air with brad segall
→Usually Mondays don’t get us too excited, but not this week. Tomorrow we’ll be introducing a wonderful organization, Ken’s Krew Inc., to Philadelphians via Brad Segall‘s community affairs program, Philadelphia Agenda (98.1 WOGL). This is a great opportunity for the city to learn about Ken’s Krew and its corporate partners’ efforts to provide meaningful employment for young adults living with developmental and intellectual disabilities, here and in other states across the country. The interview is part of our efforts to build visibility for Stepping Out with Ken’s Krew, a fashion show fundraiser set for Sunday, October 21st in King of Prussia.
The event not only will provide funds for the organization, it will also empower a large number of developmentally disabled young men and women to actively engage in a realm they are typically ignored and to gain stronger self-esteem and a sense of “fitting in,” something they don’t often feel everyday. Boscov’s (Plymouth Meeting) is providing the clothes, and from what we’ve seen, they’ll be sporting some very stylish fall looks. We hope that you’ll listen on Sunday and help us spread the word about both the organization and the event. As the mother of a “special needs” daughter, Dawn can speak from the heart about what programs like this can do. Even without experiencing Ken’s Krew firsthand, she knows from the employment opportunities her daughter has had, how much joy, confidence, maturity and pride corporate partners such as Home Depot, Boscov’s, Wegmans, CVS and Outback Steakhouse are providing.
