nj hurricane relief efforts + a new blogger in (cyber) town
November 6, 2012
→Like everyone else, we’re still a bit shaken by the stories coming out of NJ and Staten Island (and elsewhere in NYC), regarding the devastation caused by hurricane Sandy. At the same time, we’ve been amazed by the humanitarianism shown across the board, and the organic relief efforts that have sprung up over the past week. The sad truth is, this is not a quick fix. While the holidays seem like the most important time to contribute (and we encourage everyone to do so), support for the victims is going to be needed for several months. There is already a lot of information circulating on how/where to give, but we thought we’d highlight some of the pages we found on Facebook. This one was actually started after hurricane Irene, as you’ll note, but if you look at the posts, it’s active. Here’s another, and one more. We hope Philadelphians, especially, will read through the comments and requests, and encourage your family and friends to do so as well. With another storm headed toward NJ later this week, any act of kindness will surely carry infinite weight.
